Immediate Release: Monday 7th October
Local MP’s Ann and Alan Keen said how pleased they were at the gain of
the Labour council seat in the Hounslow South Ward by-election last Thursday.
Ann Keen said,
"I am delighted at the success but the pleasure is reduced as the by-election came about because of the death of Conservative Councillor Jim Hill who was a very well respected man. He will be remembered by all parts of the political spectrum in Hounslow.
The credit for the victory must go to Pritam Grewal who was an
impressive candidate and worked so hard during the campaign. I’m sure he will
become an outstanding councillor in the future and will serve the people of
Hounslow well.
Alan Keen said,
"I know from talking to voters that the performance of the Labour
government played a part in the victory and with Pritam we had a first class
candidate who deserved to be elected. The voters were also pleased at the
progress made by the new council since May in progressing the major
developments in the borough. It is clear that the public wants to see positive
action by their councillors and that is certainly happening under the new leadership
with the Hounslow High Street, Brentford Riverside and the new Feltham Centre
developments moving forward".
Ends.
