MP joins pupils and Cllr in bid for safe crossing

Alan Keen MP joins Cllr Hughes and school in campaign to get new school crossing at Bedfont Nursery school

Local MP Alan Keen said how a recent visit, with Cllr Hughes, to Bedfont Nursery and Infant school, has reinforced is view on the issue of the traffic problems encountered by parents and children accessing the school grounds from Hatton Road. School children have written en masse since to Mr Keen along with residents and the headteacher pointing out the potential dangers to the kids in and out of school.

Alan Keen said, I know Cllr Dave Hughes is pushing this hard and has asked me to support his campaign on the crossing. Cllr Hughes is submitting the vast petition to the West Area Committee and I have raised the issue directly with the London Borough of Hounslow to see if we can get things moving. The children’s concerns and letters will also be forwarded directly to council officers for further support on the issue.

I hope the next time we visit the school is with a safe school crossing. These things take time to properly assess, officially plan and deliver but I am hopeful of a successful outcome to the children’s needs. Cllr Hughes should be given as much support as possible from the local community including teachers, parents and kids to take this forward.”

 Ends.
