A key plank in the government’s
crime-tackling agenda became law last week, with the Anti-social Behaviour Act
receiving royal assent.
Alan said, “Anti-social behaviour blights people's lives, destroys families and damages communities. This Bill is not only good news for the many people in this constituency but right across the country. It is long overdue and I'm delighted the legislation has been finalised after a long campaign.”
The measures include Graffiti vandals who can be reported free and anonymously on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to 'Name that tag' if they know who is behind the featured tags. There will be clean-ups for the areas worst affected in Britain and a pilot of tough new measures to ensure graffiti is removed.
Home Office minister Hazel Blears said: "Removing graffiti is essential if we are to restore confidence in communities and help address the problems of anti-social behaviour."
Ends.
