MPs urge pensioners to claim Winter Fuel Allowance

Thousands of pensioners in the Borough of Hounslow will be receiving their Winter Fuel Allowance this month. Local MPs Ann and Alan Keen are urging every pensioner to claim what’s theirs.

Alan Keen MP said, “I want pensioners in Feltham and Heston to keep warm this winter. This year the Winter Fuel Allowance has been raised to £300 for pensioners who are over 80 and £200 for the over 60’s.

Ann Keen MP for Brentford and Isleworth, echoed the call for pensioners to take up this opportunity to claim this allowance, “Thousands of pensioners will be receiving their Winter Fuel Allowance this week. If you haven’t received your Winter Fuel Allowance and want to claim what’s yours please call the Winter Fuel Payment Helpline on 0845 9 15 15 15”.

Pensions Minister, Malcolm Wicks MP said,

The Winter Fuel Allowance is aimed at providing more support during cold months for pensioners to heat their homes. The Winter Fuel Allowance will help us ensure pensioners are kept warm this winter.

94% of pensioners have been notified by the Department of Works and Pensions that they will receive the Winter Fuel Allowance this year. In addition the new Pension Credit guarantees everyone aged 60 and over an income of at least £102.10 a week if you are single; or £155.80 if you have a partner.

Ends.
