PRESS RELEASE

MP HAPPY AS MISSING BUS-STOP SEATS ‘TURN UP’

LOCAL PENSIONERS JOINED FORCES WITH MP AND FINALLY SEE VICTORY ON BUS STOP SEATING

A small victory for local residents was achieved this week after what seemed like a long paper-chase came to an end with the help of the local MP Alan Keen. Alan was called two weeks ago by an irate resident of New Chapel Square in Feltham complaining of her on-going search for the missing seating at her local bus stop.

Alan Keen commenting on the case said, “When she called my office she was very upset that the seating had not appeared during a bus-stop revamp last year. It may seem a little trivial to some but a lot of pensioners use this large bus-stop opposite the Tesco and McDonald’s in Feltham and it was obviously causing major concern and frustration. A number of letters had been sent by residents to London Buses and the Council and although Hounslow Council told my constituent they had been assured by London Buses in December that the work would be ‘imminent’ – the resident and her friends at New Chapel Square were still kept waiting.

I was delighted to meet with a number of residents at the bus-stop on Friday 23rd May and wrote soon afterwards to London Buses raising the issue. And was delighted to receive a message on Wednesday this week from my constituenct to say the seating had now appeared and her and her friends were delighted. She has now invited me down to inspect them on Monday morning and I’m looking forward to it”

It’s a little thing but means a lot to people using the buses, especially the elderly. I was delighted I could straighten things out. Credit must go to the local residents for being patient but it was long over due.”
