MP happy to march against R3 on June 7

Plans for Heathrow are a step too far

Alan Keen MP together with Friends of the Earth, Hacan and the No 3rd Runway Group will join with local residents in opposition against proposals for a third runway at Heathrow on Saturday 7th June 2003 @11.30. Start details to follow prior to the event.

A Walk is being organised by Friends of the Earth, HACAN and the No 3rd Runway Group, marking the route of the runway, starting at HARLINGTON 11.30 AM. (To time with the consultation period which ends 30th June) The Walk is approx 2 miles and will end in Harmondsworth about 1.30 pm with a Rally. The village pubs (which woud be under the runway) are organising refreshment along the route, with barbeques at the end, and a band will spur the feet !

More details will be included on a forthcoming leaflet and all constituents and groups are welcome to join the protest.

Alan Keen MP said, “ This march and rally is a great way to work against the proposals. I would like to thank HACAN, FOE and the No 3rd Runway Group for providing a platform for me and the constituents of Feltham and Heston to show how we feel. I have had a number of meetings on the issue with the London Borough of Hounslow in support of the representations being made and I have made my position clear in Parliament directly to the Secretary of State in a recent debate in the House. The walk will be for about 2 miles and is outside the boundaries of the Feltham and Heston constituency but as everyone knows – Runway Three will affect not only those where it is built, but also people in Hounslow as well. I will not sit by and let Runway 3 happen.

Together with the voices of my constituents and these events, I hope these plans can be stopped. It is a step too far.”

Ends.
